District 5320 Charitable Foundation

The District 5320 Charitable Foundation (“DCF”) is an independent nonprofit 501(c)(3) that is available to the District and all Clubs. The purpose of the DCF is to assist the District and Clubs in fundraising that benefits local charities and other international projects that meet the current IRS nonprofit 501(c)(3) guidelines.

The DCF provides an option to enhance charitable donations that make our communities a better place for those in need There are a variety of advantages for the District and Clubs to utilize the DCF such as: opportunity to solicit donations from corporate and individual sponsors, ability to provide 501(c)(3) recognition of donations which allows for potential tax exemptions in accordance with state and federal regulations. The DCF tracks donated funds by the District or Club (funds are distributed as determined by the District or Club), writes check(s) to specified charity, is responsible for year-end tax reporting of funds provided and the Directors can offer guidance as to fundraising consistent with Rotary International and District objectives.

To utilize the DCF, the District or Club must submit a request form and agree to procedures found below.

A few guidelines related to utilizing the DCF are as follows:

  • A request form must be submitted and approved at least 45 days prior to a fundraising event. The same procedure is followed if the DCF is being used to receive funds under a donor designated program.
  • The DCF charges a 3% administrative fee to cover handing and tax reporting.
  • Fundraising expenses can be reimbursed (as permitted by IRS 501(c)(3) guidelines) up to 10% of funds deposited with the DCF per event.
